Services, Fees and Payments
Sessions are billed in 50 minute intervals. The session rate for the intake Diagnostic Assessment is $150, while subsequent session rate is $125. I do offer a sliding fee scale, based on need and availability of caseload. This is determined on a case-by-case basis. Clients will be charged the appropriate agreed-upon fee for each face to face session, teletherapy session, phone consultation, and any documentation that may need to be produced (letters for courts, schools, etc.) Additional information pertaining to fees can be found on the consent form in the intake packet.
Payment of the full fee is due at the time of your counseling appointment, and the card on file (ie- debit card, credit card, HSA, or FSA) will be charged unless you notify me of alternate form of payment during session.
Cancellation Policy
Due to the demand for services and limited availability, cancellations are expected to be outside of the 24 hour time window to your scheduled session. If you cancel your appointment within 24 hours, you will be charged your full session price. If you "no show" your session without notice, you will be charged the full session price. Please call the office to reschedule your appointments or utilize the booking feature on your client portal account. I can address any questions you have in using the client portal for scheduling. Clients who no show more than once will be subject to termination, as deemed appropriate by your provider.
Insurance
Exhale Wellness operates as a self-pay practice, meaning I do not contract with any insurance panels. I am considered an "out of network" provider and can supply a super bill should you be eligible for reimbursement, depending on your insurance plan. You can also use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) funds for your sessions. I can provide you with a receipt to submit directly to your insurance company for any out of network benefits you are eligible for under your specific plan. Please reach out to your insurance company directly if this is the route you plan to take. Please note, if working with out of network insurance plans, a diagnosis must be made to populate a superbill for reimbursement purposes.
Why Self-pay?
Privacy
Self-paying for treatments allows you to have greater control over the privacy of your information. When you use insurance, a mental health related diagnosis must be made for your or your teen. This information is collected in an insurance database and will follow you or your teen and may have unforeseen consequences. This may prevent you from obtaining security clearances, ineligible or placed in a higher risk pool for for future disability or life insurance. Insurance companies also require mental health professionals to participate in frequent clinical case reviews in which the provider must provide a great deal of personal information about you to an insurance agent to justify treatment. More often than not, my clients are not mentally ill, but are struggling with temporary life situations.
Flexibility
Insurance companies determine what session lengths and formats will be covered. When you self-pay, you have more options for how often and how long we meet. We also have the option of meeting online, which is not often a covered service.
Accessibility
Having a self-pay practice allows me to limit my caseload, which means I have more appointments available if you need to be seen quickly or if you need to change your appointment time. It also allows me to put all my energy into providing you or your teen with the best treatment, instead of spending my time fighting with insurance companies about payment. I can be more accessible to you and generally provide you with more higher quality, more personalized treatment.
